Polly's Portrait Sneak Peek!

Today I had a quick portrait shoot with the lovely Polly! She is an exchange student from Thailand, staying with my good friends, the Smiths. Thailand is a very warm place, and Polly was not quite used to the cold Wisconsin weather! She was a trooper and toughed out the 28° weather for some beautiful shots on the beach! In case the news missed you, I've spent the fall semester in London, UK! I've been here since September, and somehow....it's almost over! :( I'm super sad to leave here, but at the same time, I miss home a lot!

Hello! It's about that time of year when photographers reemerge from their dorm rooms! To celebrate the end of the semester and the start of portrait season, I've made some sweet updates to my blog! The layout looks much better, the sidebar is more organized, and I put together a new header! It looks great on Safari and Chrome, but if anything looks funky on your browser, please let me know.

In other news, my visitor map/counter tell me that this blog has received over 1,000 visits! Wow! Thank you!

I have my 2011 prices finalized, and you can access them here! I'd also like to mention that I will be available for travel throughout Wisconsin until mid-August. Email me to work something out!

This weekend I had the pleasure of shooting my dear friend's roommate, Aventia, and her boyfriend Dennis! We meant to shoot on Saturday....but the weather was busy dumping two feet of snow on all of Minnesota and Wisconsin. So instead, we shot Sunday morning! Everything turned out so great; the light was perfect! Aventia and Dennis were so much fun to work with! Here's a sneak peek of the photos!

PS: Just got my new 50mm f/1.8 lens! I'm pumped! Until I realize that it has no on-board AF, which I need with my d40x. So, that is kind of lame. But, I have been getting to know MF, and I think it will be just fine for the time being! I will post some pics taken with the 50mm soon!

New Layout!

Trying some new things with the layout... Might be a little crazy for a while! Let me know your thoughts on the layout. I'm not sure if it works or not.... It will probably change a few times in the near future!

In other news, I am super excited! Things are going really well! Got Lauren, Tiffany, and Rebekah their proof books last week. =] Then, out of the blue, I had two people ask me about family sessions! I am really pumped to try this! It's something I've never done before, but I'm sure it will be really fun. So, that's about it... Life outside of photography continues on... Doing a lot of stuff at school, starting college applications, trying to fight senioritis! =]

New Price Info!

After spending a lot of time working out some new package options, I have a new price list for you! Instead of 4 package options, I reduced it to 3. Trust me, things make a lot more sense this way! Also, a new metallic paper option! Woohoo! I bought the paper sample kit from Mpix, and the metallic paper is pretty awesome. Lastly, my prices are now up on Google Documents, which should make everything a lot smoother! Links will be up on the sidebar shortly.

Well, it sure has been a while since I posted. Unfortunately, no photos. =[ I've been super busy with band, yearbook, Millie, and back to school stuff. School starts on Monday. Not thrilled..... But, my senior project is going to kick butt! And I'm pumped to get going with Photo Club and Yearbook! Anyways, not much going on in terms of photography right now. I've got a few senior sessions lined up for September! Pretty excited for those... =] Other than that, the photography I've recently done is from band camp for yearbook! That was fun. Taking photos > practicing marching. =] Anyways, I'm on vacation now. We're visiting an internet cafe in Eagle River. But, we are home tomorrow. =[ Well, that's about all. Here's a great lesson from this awesome blog:

Many people romanticize the life of a photographer as if it was Tarzan swinging through the jungle from vine to vine. They see it as a glamorous and exciting life – full of momentum and confidence. Sure there may be moments when you want to agree. But then there’s a vine that’s just a bit too short or a tree that’s in the wrong place – and suddenly the momentum of your career or your enthusiasm for your hobby comes to a sudden halt. Every photographer goes through periods when he or she can’t make a decent photo. Every photographer has periods that seem to move backwards rather than forwards. I’m sure that when Tarzan loses his momentum, he just climbs back to the top of a tall tree and grabs a new vine. No matter how dismal your photography may seem at the moment, don’t give up on yourself. Jump off that safe limb and grab a vine. Sometimes saying “I can do this” is all it takes to get started again.

So, I also have some new 365 photos! I feel terrible, because I didn't take any photos yesterday... =[ So, I will have two from Monday. =]

Hello!

It's been a while since I've updated...

Don't forget to vote on my Brickfish entry, Dreams of Rock 'n' Roll!!! Every vote helps!

Since my last post, I have borrowed two lenses from my uncle! The first is a 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6, which is pretty sweet! It's a lot like my kit lens, except longer, which is great. That was one of the most frustrating things about the 18-55mm... Hopefully, I will be purchasing this lens soon. =] Then, I am also borrowing the 35-70mm f/2.8 lens... which is really amazing. I love using it! I've done a lot of flower pictures already.

This week, I am doing a senior session for Stacie! So, I will get to use my new lenses! =D ...Provided the weather cooperates. I will hopefully have some of those posted by Thursday... Then, on Thursday, I am shooting some pictures of Sarah, just for fun. =] So, it will be a fun week!

Last piece of news... I've been thinking about this for a while, and I'd like to create a collection of photos taken every day for a year! I will probably post them on here [if not every day] every few days. My friend, Nicole, did the same thing here. Wish me luck! =]

....is almost here! =D I am super excited to start shooting portraits! ...and warm weather, and relaxation, and no more school! Only six days left. =] So, like always, send me an email if you're interested in hiring me.... Looks like I'm going to be pretty busy this summer. That's a good thing -- it means I don't need to get a "real" summer job!

In other news, I love music. I found a new song that makes me happy. It's called "Courons Courez" by Hermas Zopoula. Haha. No idea... but it's a cool song. So, anyways, Happy Memorial Day!

Anyways, I received my first set of proof books from Mpix last night! One is Emily's senior portraits, one is Cassie's senior portraits, and one is my personal "portfolio" as of now.
